Corpo Celeste – review

Feature from Italian director Alice Rohrwacher shows a young heroine exploring the boundaries of a new town and her Catholic faithIn a dismal urban landscape, at the bottom of what looks like a dried-up canal, a congregation of the faithful has gathered to honour the Madonna. The scene is contemporary Italy, apparent in the cheap clothes worn by the crowd, the frightful music spewing from the loudspeakers and the digital picture.
